July 31, 2024 – (Minneapolis) – Catholic Charities Twin Cities is pleased to announce the appointment of John
Marston as its interim president and CEO, effective August 16, 2024. Marston will lead the organization following
the departure of Michael Goar, who has been appointed president and CEO of Sisters of Charity Health System.

John Marston brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities, where he
will also continue to serve as the organization’s chief financial officer, a role he has held since early 2024. Marston
has previously served in leadership roles for small businesses and Fortune 500 companies, as CFO for several
behavioral health organizations, and as interim CEO for Youable Emotional Health. Throughout his career, Marston
has focused on mission-aligned revenue growth and sustainability strategies.

Desirae Butler, Catholic Charities Board Chair, expressed confidence in Marston’s ability to guide the organization
during this transitional period. “John’s expertise, proven leadership within Catholic Charities, and previous
experience serving as an interim CEO make him the ideal choice for this role. His dedication to our mission and
understanding of the organization’s strengths and challenges will ensure a seamless transition as we search for a
permanent president and CEO,” Butler said.

Michael Goar also shared his support for Marston’s appointment. “John will provide strong leadership for Catholic
Charities Twin Cities. His experience and passion for our work will be invaluable as the organization continues to
serve our most vulnerable neighbors,” he stated.

The Catholic Charities Board of Directors continues its comprehensive search for a new CEO, committed to finding
a visionary leader who will build on the strong foundation laid by Michael Goar and further the organization’s
strategic goals. In the interim, Marston will work closely with the Board and senior leadership to maintain
momentum and ensure the continued success of Catholic Charities’ initiatives.

Marston expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Catholic Charities Twin Cities during this critical period.
“I am honored to step into this role and continue the important work of Catholic Charities, which has been a
cornerstone of our community for more than 150 years. Our mission remains steadfast, and I look forward to
leading our dedicated team through this transition,” he said.

Catholic Charities remains focused on serving those most in need and advocating for justice in the community,
which is only possible because of the significant, enduring community support it receives.
