Catholic Charities Children’s Day Treatment provides programming for children from kindergarten to 8th grade, to build social, emotional, and behavioral skills and support their academic growth.
Day Treatment is a year-round program, where both treatment and academics are provided on-site when school is in session.
Most children who attend our program have received some form of mental health treatment or services prior to attending day treatment.
It may be helpful to consult with your child’s school social worker, mental health provider, or pediatrician to determine the appropriate type of mental health care for your child’s needs.
Catholic Charities Day Treatment is an intensive, collaborative service designed to meet the individual therapeutic needs of children who experience social, emotional, and behavioral problems that interfere with their peer and adult relationships and daily functioning.
Medical insurance is billed for mental health services and sometimes transportation services.
We highly recommend that families call their insurance provider and ask about their specific behavioral health coverage to determine if they will have any out-of-pocket costs.
For families who are concerned they cannot afford services, we are happy to discuss additional options for payment.
Yes, our day treatment program is year-round. We serve kids 52 weeks out of the year, including over winter, spring, and summer breaks.
On days when there is no school, students still attend three hours of mental health programming either in the morning or afternoon, depending on their group schedule. Students then return home or to another location.
Our program now serves all students, regardless of special education status, for a full day of programming. We have determined students develop a stronger sense of belonging and better outcomes when they have fewer transitions in their day.
Caregivers with concerns about their children missing out on academic time are encouraged to speak with program or school staff about the benefits of addressing mental health and behavioral concerns for long-term effectiveness of symptom management and positive academic experiences in the future.
Transportation may be provided by the child’s school district, arranged through your child’s medical insurance, or a combination of the two, depending on if they attend full or half day programming.
On days when school is not in session, transportation is arranged through the child’s medical insurance.
Children are typically in our program for approximately 12-18 months, depending on how long it takes to reach their individual therapeutic goals.
Anyone can make a referral if they feel their child needs Day Treatment services. Our referrals often come from mental health providers, county workers, mental health case managers, hospitals, school social workers, or caregivers themselves.
We are excited to share that we will be moving toward providing full day services for all youth enrolled in our program! Children no longer need an IEP or have restrictions to IEP level to receive full day services.
