Catholic Charities’ Dorothy Day Center serves multiple functions. During the day, the Dorothy Day Center provides meals, mental health services and medical care, showers, and much more to help people experiencing homelessness. Catholic Charities’ Housing First staff work to help guests move from Dorothy Day Center into permanent housing.
After dinner has been served, the tables and chairs are put away to transform the building into a bedroom. At night, Dorothy Day Center becomes an emergency shelter, providing a safe place for more than 200 people to get rest on mats just inches apart.
